For the Eco- tourist, the centre has countless resources to offer.

The eight parts of the organogram are linked with the past and present life of the Buem people. This is attractive to anthropologically minded visitors and researchers; site would benefit them in various ways. It is also felt that, the environmental and human experiences are intrinsically linked into a spiritual benefit common to human beings. In this respect, the site may also be available for seminars, conferences on suitable matters e.g.: anthropology, religion, meditation, etc.

It is also hoped that the experience will be a learning one. The site and project is a living concern, it is growing with time so that, e.g. The visitor who comes to photograph and walk may go away with a heightened awareness of say, the medical qualities of plant, or the values of history. This becomes what we call a life transformation experience from the beautiful geographical, topographical, ecological, religious and cultural set-up of The Akrofo Project. The image of Buem as a self-contained but dynamic group will help us all to understand our place in the world.

A further visitor type could be the amateur, professional or academic specialist suitable subject for seminars one to a few days. Or conference. This could be on Religion e.g. Comparative Buem mythology etc. anthropology or on personal development (exercise, meditation craft work etc.)

For longer stays, It may be possible for the project to do the relevant marketing itself: however, in the first instance, we feel that it may be better to liaise with “up and coming” tour operators and be included in their tours and packages, subjects to a suitable business agreement. These tour operators may have an expertise in planning, hygiene, health, and safety issues, insurance and visitor demographics requirements (e.g.: types of food, swimming pools etc.) that is providing otherwise difficult to predict, partly due to lack of research, and partly due to the unprecedented nature of the project. You will see labeled medicinal trees such as this one.

The “ Akrofo human and environmental resource development project” is one that is situated on a 10-hectare piece of land called Akrofo . Akrofo means the “ancient settlement”. This plot is a portion of land that is the bona fide property of the applicant as was inherited from his father, the late Rev. W.S. Nyarko of the Ledomiku ( Badomku Clan) Jasikan -Buem. The oral tradition of the Buem people has it that the early”Badomi ” clan of Jasikan - Buem first settled on this patch of land. This piece of land still has evidence of the factors that might have attracted human habitation. There are trees, a spring, and a stream with fringe forests where the remaining species of the semi-deciduous forest could be seen. Akrofo is found at Jasikan the district capital of the area. It is a “T – junction” town linking the routes/roads from Accra to the Northern part of Ghana . It has good roads linking it to Hohoe a commercial town and Menuso and border town in the Volta-Region.

The project will promote as much as possible, the eight-headed objectives and foci as shown in the bubbles overhead. The “come-and-experience it” or participate in the Buem indigenous life programmes will offer space and room for a multi-cultural learning. Activities like weaving your own basket from palm fronds, carving, modeling, and casting your own souvenirs while on a visit are central learning experiences. Apart from that, the audience-narrator engagement types of story-telling and fireside food roasting and tasting sessions will leave lasting nostalgic feelings with all who will visit.

While the negative effects of human activities on Buem ecology will be consciously tackled via a special tree-planting programme to “immortalize” visitors to the Akrofo site. Learning of some basic existing Buem traditional trades like making your own litre of palm oil, participating in the process of polishing indigenous rice and blacksmith skills are available to all who want it.

In the radius of twenty kilometers, one has access to the great Wli water falls, the Likpe Todome ancient settlement sites, and ancient Religious shrines like the Nostril of the Earth at Baglo-Buem, the Akpesokubi Lion Shrine, and Bowiri Kotuatu Hill and the Ohinto Hill at Jasikan . Below is a forest reserve at Buem which tourist are expected to tour .
